About Our Client

Our client is a leading international consumer finance FinTech organisation developing in various countries across the globe. We are currently seeking to recruit a proactive and hands-on Head of Portfolio who will manage the company's consumer finance product portfolio, working with Risk Director and Country Managers worldwide. The role can be based in Warsaw with travel to the headquarters abroad and other locations when necessary.

Job Description

  • Define, manage, evaluate and maintain the Company's credit policies for consumer finance products such as instalment loans, payday loans
  • Leverage and collaborate with appropriate stakeholders in IT, Marketing, Product, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Legal & Compliance in developing new credit programs on Risk/Return principles and rolling them out
  • Develop Product Programs and track the credit quality, Risk/Return parameters of each product program
  • Contribute to the development of Risk Appetite setting for the product within the company's overall Risk Appetite Framework. Set Tripwires and Triggers
  • Develop a platform that facilitates continuous Test and Learn culture to identify opportunities for growth while optimising risk
  • Evaluate and monitor scoring models for each product to ensure that they are empirically derived, statistically sound
  • Take a Lead role in monitoring, evaluating and reporting portfolio performance to the Company.
  • Identify Adverse Portfolio Trends through appropriate leading indicators and Recommend Mitigating Actions
  • Continuously monitor the macroeconomic environment. Evaluate credit policy changes including credit scorecard validation and redevelopment
  • Participate in site visit reviews of lending partners with a primary focus on adherence to credit policy requirements.
  • Review fraud models and understand fraud mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate loss mitigation and recovery management strategies
  • Manage credit and portfolio audit activities
  • Address internal and external audit findings that relate to credit activity and help prepare responses as required
  • Support the Risk Leadership in portfolio discussion/presentation.
  • Ensure that new product development, systems initiatives and other projects adequately consider and address all credit related issues
  • Monitor credit application exception processes and reports and communicate findings to management
  • Conduct reviews of manual adjudication activity and develop/maintain reports of same
  • Participate in monthly calls with origination partners to evaluate credit performance

The Successful Applicant

  • University degree level in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, econometrics preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years of consumer credit experience in an international retail banking or consumer finance environment
  • Experience in working with some or all of the following products: Payday Loans / Instalment Loans / Revolving Loans / Credit Cards / POS or Auto Lending
  • Excellent ability to analyse data and interpret credit performance metrics
  • Strong understanding of portfolio dynamics including roll rate analysis and loss rate forecasting.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of database management including analytical software tools such as SAS
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical credit modelling methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance requirements that relate to credit activity
  • Must have prior relevant experience in a regulated environment
  • Strong self-confidence, good judgement and the ability to make sound decisions
  • Must interface effectively with other departments
  • Ability to handle a fast paced environment and successfully meet established project deadline requirements
  • Strong problem solver
  • Outstanding initiative, communication skills (verbal and written), attention to detail and organisation skills required
  • Through the Cycle Credit Experience a distinct plus
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment across e markets in Europe, Latin America, North America would be a great plus
  • Very good English is a must
