About Our Client

For our client, an international company from the consumer finance sector, we are looking for candidates for the position of Tax Controller based in the Warsaw office. The main purpose of the role is to manage the tax affairs of the group across several countries.

Job Description

  • Implement and manage the transfer pricing strategy across our markets including development and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Monitor tax developments across our markets to identify potential risks and opportunities, put forward proposals as appropriate to address risks or take advantage of opportunities, and implement these proposals as required.
  • Monitor capital ratios of group companies, put forward proposals for action as appropriate, and implement as required.
  • Manage specific tax projects, including projects to mitigate specific tax risks or optimise tax efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain a central governance framework compliant with the group standard providing oversight and controls over key tax calculations, such as tax calculations for impairment.
  • Provide management, support and oversight as appropriate to the tax compliance affairs across our markets, working with finance colleagues and external advisers.
  • Provide assistance to the lead digital Tax Manager and the local Financial Controller in the management, support and oversight for any tax audits that arise.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders within the digital finance team, and also with external advisers, across a number of markets.

The Successful Applicant

  • Educated to degree level with an appropriate tax or accounting qualification;
  • Knowledge of the core principles of international taxes;
  • An understanding of transfer pricing issues from a technical perspective, and practical experience of implementing transfer pricing policy;
  • Experience in obtaining and critically analysing advice received from advisors in other countries;
  • Experience of calculating tax provisions under IFRS for year-end reporting;
  • English language proficiency;
  • Ability to draft clear and concise reports. Excellent organisational skills and ability to establish priorities;
  • Result oriented and pragmatic person;
  • Able to work independently, and highly organised, methodical and with attention to detail;
  • Committed, enthusiastic and self-motivated;
  • Knowledge of the financial services sector, and EU VAT within this sector, will be an asset.
