We are looking for a Mid-level or Senior Software Engineer to join a growing Content AI team developing backend services that power features such as search, voice interactions, and captions across digital and connected fitness platforms.

About Our Client

This is primarily a backend engineering role, with approximately 10-20% of the work related to AI/ML and NLP. You will build and maintain scalable microservices and APIs, working with modern cloud infrastructure and contributing to solutions developed from the ground up.

Depending on your experience, you will focus on backend development or take greater ownership of technical decisions while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Job Description

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
  • Build and operate microservices supporting search, voice, and content-related features.
  • Work with Elasticsearch and databases to support reliable, efficient applications.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deploy services using Kubernetes.
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system reliability.
  • Apply best practices in testing, code quality, security, and observability.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineers.



For senior-level candidates, additional responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of technical design and implementation decisions.
  • Building backend solutions from scratch and improving system architecture.
  • Mentoring other engineers and sharing technical knowledge.

The Successful Applicant

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in backend development for mid-level candidates, or 6+ years for senior-level candidates.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or Kotlin; experience with both is a plus.
  • Experience building backend APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure; AWS is preferred.
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Understanding of API design, automated testing, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.



For senior-level candidates, we also expect strong technical independence, sound engineering judgment, and a willingness to mentor other engineers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, Lambda, or DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Datadog.
  • Experience building search platforms or developing services from scratch.
  • Exposure to NLP, ASR, chatbots, or voice assistants.
