This is a position within the UK Retail insurance broking accounting team based in the Gdańsk SSC. Working under day-to-day supervision, the role focuses on executing transactional and process-driven accounting activities. The position plays a key supporting role in establishing robust controls and standardized processes as activities are transitioned into the Shared Services Centre.

About Our Client

For our client - a fast-growing, global organization operating at the intersection of finance and technology within a dynamic fintech environment - we are currently looking for an Accounting Analyst. The company is building a new Global Shared Services Centre in Gdańsk, offering the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, ownership-driven and collaborative culture, with exposure to senior international stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Execute daily bank postings and reconciliations across entities, including clearing account management and exception handling
  • Support period-end close execution, including preparation of journals, accruals and reconciliations, ensuring full documentation
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including intercompany balances, supported by appropriate evidence
  • Investigate variances, resolve reconciling items and escalate unresolved issues prior to close deadlines
  • Prepare statutory accounts, audit schedules and supporting documentation for review, responding to audit queries as required
  • Perform controls testing and provide evidencing in line with internal control frameworks and SLAs
  • Prepare draft analyses, schedules and variance commentary to support management reporting
  • Validate data across accounting, reporting and upstream processes, ensuring completeness, consistency and traceability
  • Support in-month accounting activities including postings, data entry and follow-up of open queries
  • Maintain accurate and complete audit trails and supporting documentation in line with SOPs, controls and filing standards

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field preferred; ACCA or CIMA studies in progress are an advantage
  • Min. 1,5 years of experience in transactional, operational or process-driven accounting roles (e.g. reconciliations, accounts payable, financial operations)
  • Exposure to month-end close, reporting or audit support within a structured finance environment
  • Strong ability to follow standard operating procedures, checklists, SLAs and internal controls with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical approach to identifying inconsistencies and resolving issues
  • Fluent English enabling effective communication with UK-based stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset, with willingness to identify inefficiencies and contribute to continuous process improvement
