Job Description

  • Shape and drive the global approach to data governance, ensuring that data becomes a reliable business asset across operations, reporting, analytics and future AI use cases.
  • Translate complex data topics into practical business frameworks, decision models and operating routines that can be adopted across different functions and regions.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across business, technology, finance, risk and analytics to align priorities, resolve ownership gaps and build commitment around common data standards.
  • Lead the development of governance practices across key enterprise data areas, including ownership, quality, definitions, controls, lifecycle and usability.
  • Support major transformation initiatives by embedding data governance into system implementations, process redesign, reporting structures and technology platforms.

  • Establish mechanisms to monitor data quality, identify recurring issues and drive measurable improvements in business confidence, reporting accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on how the organization should prepare its data foundations for broader use of automation, analytics and AI.
  • Coordinate governance forums, decision-making processes and escalation paths to ensure that data-related topics are addressed with the right level of business ownership.
  • Lead and develop a team of senior data governance and data quality professionals, while also managing collaboration with external partners where required.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous topics, define priorities and turn strategic concepts into tangible actions, roadmaps and delivery plans.

The Successful Applicant

  • Extensive experience in data governance, data management, analytics, technology transformation or business process leadership within a large international organization.
  • Previous experience in a senior-level role with responsibility for shaping data standards, governance models or enterprise data capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of SAP environments, ideally including S/4HANA, Central Finance and/or master data governance.
  • Practical knowledge of modern data platforms, enterprise architecture concepts, analytics ecosystems and the role of data quality in business decision-making.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders across multiple functions, regions or business units, including situations where influence is required without formal authority.
  • Ability to connect strategic vision with practical execution - from defining the direction to creating workable processes, ownership models and implementation plans.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Business-oriented mindset, focused on value creation, adoption and measurable outcomes rather than governance for governance's sake.
  • Independent, proactive and confident decision-maker who can operate in ambiguity, structure complex topics and move initiatives forward without waiting for detailed instructions.
  • High level of stakeholder maturity, diplomacy and resilience in driving change across a complex organization.
  • Comfortable working in a global role with exposure to senior leadership and executive-level stakeholders.
