Reporting to the VP, Controller, the primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant will be to assist in the maintenance of the Company's general ledger and the preparation of financial statements and related analyses, tax and regulatory filings, as well as the timely reconciliation and analyses of funds received from clients and reinsurers and the effective resolution of issues.

Job Description

  • Prepare entity and consolidated monthly and year-end IFRS financial statements, supporting analyses and reconciliations.
  • Support management and board reporting, including annual budgets, variance analyses and ad-hoc financial/operational analysis.
  • Coordinate financial audits and support tax/regulatory compliance across the USA, Canada and UK (including Income Tax, VAT, HST, FET and FCA requirements).
  • Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, bank reconciliations and analysis of intercompany, receivables, payables and multi-currency balances.
  • Analyse reinsurance cash receipts and disbursements and reconcile GL with trust accounting systems.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, assess their impact on the Group and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Group accounting procedures and collaborate with global Finance teams.
  • Contribute to Finance transformation initiatives and strategic projects, proactively identifying issues and recommending solutions.



The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified Professional Accountant (CPA or equivalent) with 3-5+ years of accounting experience; industry experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and UK GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills, particularly formulas and data analysis; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Sage accounting software.
  • Strong financial reporting, analytical and reconciliation skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in working with senior management and global teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, independent and results-oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to drive process efficiencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity and developing leadership capabilities.
