How it all began…
In 1976 two men, Michael Page and Bill McGregor, set up a small office above a humble London launderette. Together they created the original PageGroup brand, Michael Page, with the ambitious dream of placing qualified accountants into permanent roles in the capital.
After four years of hard work and long nights they were employing over 50 consultants and generated a profit of over 3 million pounds in 5 offices across the country.
Their focus was to help clients build a successful taskforce based on high quality talent and for candidates, the goal was to create a career and be a steady recruitment partner throughout their journey.
This success would continue and it wouldn’t be long before the brand went international with offices in France, the Netherlands and Australia. By 1988 Michael Page was listed on the London Stock Exchange followed by further international expansion in the 1990s.
Today PageGroup is made up of four brands: Michael Page, Page Personnel, Page Outsourcing and Page Executive which collectively cover temporary and permanent positions from support and specialist roles, through to management and executive level.
One common theme across all brands is our core values of pride, passion, never give up, work as a team and make it fun. They are as evident now as they’ve ever been.
PageGroup now employs over 7,500 people in 35 different countries, covering APAC, North America, LATAM, UK, Middle East and Continental Europe, with specialised teams working across diverse industries. In 2015 LinkedIn praised us the Most Socially Engaged Recruitment Company in the world.
Things have changed a great deal over 40 years. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is our commitment to the professional success of our clients, candidates and employees.
